Are you in control of your life? What kind of plans, dreams and hopes do you have for yourself? Whatever your plans may be, I encourage you to let God be in control and let him work in your life.
Luke 12:16-21 “Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.’’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” This rich man had great plans, but he was not rich toward God; all his plans came to nothing. You don’t want your plans to come to nothing.
God desires to work in your life. Philippians 2:12-13 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” You have a choice. You can always rebel against God and follow your own fleshly desires and pleasures and suffer eternal damnation. Or you can work out your own salvation with fear and trembling and let God work in you to will and do for His good pleasure.
If you let Him, God will deal with you like a loving father with a son. He will discipline you to mold you into the image of his Son so that you may be a partaker of His holiness. Hebrews 12:5-10 “And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: ‘My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.’ If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.”
I encourage you to desire to be led by the Spirit of God. Romans 8:12-14 “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors — not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” When you are led by His Spirit, you will accomplish the works He desires and develop His characteristics as part of your character.
The writer of Hebrews had this prayer. Hebrews 13:20-21 “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” Is this your prayer – that God would make you complete in every good work and work in you what is well pleasing in His sight?
Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Pray to God that He will complete His work in you.
