Are you ever ashamed that you are a Christian? Are you afraid to tell others about Jesus Christ? If you are ashamed, maybe it reflects that your faith is weak. Do you really believe that God is the creator of the universe with all the plants and animals we see about us? Do you really believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he came to this earth and died upon the cross and took the penalty for our sins? Do you really believe that those who remain faithful to Him will have eternal life with Him? The apostle Paul said in Rom 1:16a “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” We, like Paul, need to realize that the message about Jesus Christ is the power of God to save everyone who believes. It isn’t our power that saves others. It is the power of God. Why should we be ashamed or afraid to tell the message about Jesus? The all-powerful God can take the message we give, change the heart of the hearer, and save that individual. But it will be His power, not ours. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is very different than the message of any other religion. No other religion has a loving God giving His son to be our substitute and putting on Him all our wrongs that we have committed. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Anyone can accept this gift by believing in His son and submitting to his will. That message is unique to Christianity and it is a powerful message. It can and does change lives. I have witnessed individuals in the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines submitting their lives to God and being baptized. Lives are being changed today. The gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful throughout the world to save anyone who believes. 2 Tim 1:12 “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” Lord, strengthen our faith.
